Chinese trucks, buses and construction machines are now everywhere outside China - in Central Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, South-East Asia and Eastern Europe. They arrive with China VI or Euro 6 emission hardware, and in the territories where they actually work that hardware is the first thing that fails: no AdBlue of the right quality, no diesel to match, no dealer to reset a blocked SCR countdown. The workshop that can read the ECU and write a clean file keeps the machine earning money.
This is the guide we wish we had when we started. It maps which brand uses which engine, which engine uses which ECU, and what we can do with each one. Every ECU named here is one we actually hold files for: the counts in the tables are live pages in our solutions database, not marketing numbers. Over 1 000 software versions on Chinese vehicles are listed there today, across more than 70 brands.
Key facts at a glance
- Three engine families cover most of the market: Weichai (WP series), Yuchai (YC series) and Cummins built in Chinese joint ventures (ISF, ISB/ISBe, ISL/ISLe, ISG, ISZ, X12/X13, QSB/QSL/QSX).
- The badge on the truck does not tell you the ECU. The engine does. A Shacman, a Howo and a FAW with the same Weichai WP12 can all be a Bosch EDC17CV44 - and the same file logic applies to all three.
- Heavy trucks: Bosch EDC17CV44 / CV41 / CV54 for Euro 4-5, Bosch MD1CE100 (sold as Weichai WISE10) and Continental SID605 (WISE15) for Euro 6 / China VI.
- Cummins-powered trucks, buses and machines: CM2220 (ISF2.8/3.8), CM2150/CM2150E (ISBe/ISLe/ISZ), CM2350/CM2350A (QSB6.7/QSL9/QSX15), CM2880 (ISG11/ISG12), CM2670 (X12/X13).
- Machines also use: Denso SH7058 and 1N83M, Transtron (Isuzu engines), TRW EMS2.3 + ACM, Continental MCM/ACM, Caterpillar A6E (SEM, some XCMG).
- Light trucks, pickups and cars: Bosch EDC17C53 / C55 / C63 / C81, MD1CS089, Delphi DCM6.2 / DCM7.1 / MT80, Bosch ME17.8.8 / MED17.8.10 / MG1US008 on petrol.
- What we supply: DPF/DOC off, EGR off, AdBlue/SCR off or AdBlue reduction, Stage 1 and ECO (fuel-economy) files, Vmax, selective DTC off, checksum correction, back-to-original.
- How it works: you read the ECU, upload the file at fs.auto-remap.com, tick the options, get the file back. No subscription, pay per file, support until the machine runs clean.
Why Chinese machinery needs its own guide
European and Japanese brands are easy to map: one manufacturer, one engine range, one ECU supplier per generation. Chinese heavy vehicles are the opposite. The chassis, the engine and the control unit come from three different companies, and the combinations change from one order batch to the next. Three facts explain almost everything a workshop runs into.
1. The engine makers are independent - and they are only three
Weichai Power (WP series: WP7, WP9, WP10, WP12, WP13) and Yuchai (YC4, YC6A, YC6J, YC6K series) sell engines to anybody. Weichai owns Shacman, but a Weichai WP12 also goes into Howo tippers, FAW tractors, CAMC, BeiBen and cranes. Yuchai YC6K appears under Dongfeng, FAW, Chenglong and Hualing badges. In our own database the same software version frequently lists several brands at once - for example one EDC17CV44 file covers Chenglong, Hualing, CAMC, FAW and Dongfeng chassis, because the engine and the calibration are the same.
So the practical rule is: identify the engine and the ECU, not the truck. The model badge matters only for choosing the right line in the price list.
2. Cummins is Chinese too - through joint ventures
Cummins has been building engines in China for decades through joint ventures, and those engines carry exactly the same control hardware as their North American relatives:
| Joint venture | Engines | ECU | Used by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beijing Foton Cummins (BFCEC) | ISF2.8, ISF3.8, ISG11, ISG12 | CM2220 / CM2220A / CM2220C, CM2880 | Foton Aumark, Auman, Tunland; many buses and light trucks of other brands |
| Dongfeng Cummins (DCEC) | ISBe, ISDe, ISLe, ISZ13, L9.5 | CM2150 / CM2150C / CM2150E, CM2350, CM2880 | Dongfeng, Yutong, King Long, Higer, Golden Dragon, Zhongtong, Chenglong |
| Cummins industrial (QSB/QSL/QSX) | QSF3.8, QSB6.7, QSC8.3, QSL9, QSX15 | CM850, CM2250, CM2350 / CM2350A | Sany, XCMG, LiuGong, Zoomlion, Shantui, Sunward, SDLG excavators, loaders, cranes, dozers |
| Cummins X-series (export) | X12 11.8 L, X13 13 L | CM2670 / CM2670E | Foton Auman export, Dongfeng GX/DFL, Shacman X3000 |
Why this matters: everything we have learned on American Cummins - CM2350, CM2450, the XCAL/Calterm workflow, the CVN and checksum behaviour - transfers directly to a Chinese loader or bus with the same control unit. See our Cummins articles linked at the bottom of this page.
3. One ECU, many badges
Because the engine makers are independent, a single ECU type spans the whole market. Our EDC17CV44 page alone lists 154 software versions across 28 makes; Cummins CM2350 lists 391 versions across 54 makes. For a workshop this is good news: the same read procedure, the same options and often the same file logic apply to a Sany excavator, a LiuGong loader and a Shantui dozer.
It also means you cannot guess from a model table. Two Howo C7H tippers of the same year can carry an EDC17CV44 or an MD1CE100 depending on which engine was fitted. Always read the ECU label or let the tool identify it first.

Brand - models - engine - ECU - versions we hold
The last column is the number of software versions currently published for that brand in our solutions database. Click the brand to see every version, with the software number, the vehicles it belongs to and the price for that specific file. Live prices in the file service are always the authoritative ones.

The ECU families in detail
Bosch EDC17CV44 / CV41 / CV54 (plus CV43, CV45, CV52)
The workhorse of Chinese heavy trucks from roughly 2013 onwards, and still being fitted. CV44 and CV54 are the common ones; CV41 appears on pickups and lighter chassis, CV43 / CV45 / CV52 on machines and gensets.
- Who uses it: Howo / Sitrak, Shacman, Dongfeng, FAW, CAMC / Hualing, BeiBen, SAIC Hongyan, Chenglong, Xichai, Yuchai, Kingkan, XCMG, Sany, Sunward, SDLG, Weichai Power Truck, Foton, JAC, MG trucks.
- In our database: EDC17CV44 - 154 versions, 28 makes; EDC17CV54 - 117 versions, 37 makes; CV45 - 37 versions.
- Reading: OBD on many Euro 5 variants; bench or boot on the rest. Autotuner, Alientech KESS3 / K-TAG, PCMtuner, CMD and Dimsport all cover these.
- Typical prices (Chinese truck brands): DPF 140 EUR, EGR 90 EUR, AdBlue / SCR off 180 EUR, Stage 1 or ECO 140 EUR, throttle valve 95 EUR, swirl flaps 95 EUR, selective DTC off 50 EUR, checksum 50 EUR, back to original 40 EUR. On machines with CV54 / CV52 the DPF position is 180-220 EUR because the DOC / DPF strategy is deeper.
- Good to know: for several brands we hold a combined "all models / all engines" entry (EDC17CV44/CV41/CV54) covering the whole range, which is the line to pick when the version is not listed separately.
Bosch MD1CE100 / WISE10 and the MD1 family
The Euro 6 / China VI generation. Weichai sells the Bosch MD1CE100 under its own name WISE10 (WISE13 turns up inside the software IDs of the related MD1CE101), and that is exactly how it is listed in our price list - Bosch MD1CE100/WISE10. Related units you will meet on Chinese vehicles:
| ECU | Where | Versions (all makes) | DPF / EGR / AdBlue / Stage 1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| MD1CE100, MD1CE100B, WISE10 | Shacman X3000 / SX4, Howo & Sitrak C7H / G7 / T7H, FAW JH7, BeiBen, XCMG XC760K / cranes, Zoomlion ZTC550V | 95 | 110 / 85 / 190-290 / 140-160 EUR |
| MD1CE101 | XCMG XE5 / XE958, SEM 656 / 676F, Shacman, Howo Sitrak - also Case, New Holland, Kamaz and MAN | 115 | 110 / 85 / 190 / 160 EUR |
| MD1CE108 | Dongfeng Tianlong / KX / Duolica, Yutong ZK6116, Maxus C35, Zoomlion ZTC250, Yunnei, Sany SYM5210, Shacman | 19 | 110 / 85 / 190 / 140 EUR |
| MD1CC878, MD1CC878C | Foton, FAW, Howo C7H, Sany SYM cranes, Hangcha XF, Weichai Eurise, JAC Sunray | 144 | 160 / 95 / 290-320 / 160 EUR |
| MD1CS089 | Foton Aumark / Aucan, JAC DR4, JMC, Great Wall, MG, Maxus Deliver 9, BAIC BJ40 | 23 | 95-105 / 75-85 / 190-240 / 105-120 EUR |
| MD1CE868 | Sinotruk | - | 130 / 95 / 220 / 140 EUR |
Reading: MD1 is a TriCore-based unit and in practice wants bench or boot access; some variants read over OBD with Autotuner. Always keep the original read - MD1 checksums are multi-level and a half-written file is a recovery job.
The same ECU on European machines. MD1CE101 is also the Case / New Holland and Kamaz / MAN unit we published solutions for years ago - see Case & New Holland MD1CE101 and Kamaz & MAN MD1CE101. The experience carries straight across to Chinese trucks.
Continental / Siemens SID605 - Weichai WISE15
Continental's unit for the big Weichai engines (WP13 and relatives), sold by Weichai as WISE15. We see it on FAW J6P / J6L / J7 / JHP and Shacman X3000 / X5000, with 12.8 L and 6.2 L calibrations. In our database: SID605 - 3 versions, 5 vehicles published so far, and 9 priced entries in the file service.
- Prices: DPF 190 EUR, EGR 120 EUR, AdBlue / SCR off 240 EUR, Stage 1 / ECO 140 EUR, checksum 50 EUR, back to original 40 EUR.
- Related: Continental ATK-EM-EU6 on the Dongfeng KX with DCi11 - same workflow, priced like the EDC17CV44 group.
- Reading: bench / boot. If your tool does not list SID605, send us the ECU photo and the tool you have before you open the unit.
Cummins CM2220, CM2150, CM2250, CM2350, CM2670, CM2880
If the engine says ISF, ISB, ISBe, ISDe, ISL, ISLe, ISG, ISZ, X12, X13, QSF, QSB, QSC, QSL or QSX, the control unit is a Cummins CM, and the file is a Cummins job - same families, same tooling and same checksum logic as the North American trucks we have worked on for years.

Many of these units are read and written as .xcal through Calterm-type tooling; checksums and the CVN need to be handled correctly or the engine will not start or will not talk to diagnostic tools. We have published two detailed articles on this: Cummins ISX / ISC / ISB / ISL / ISM, CM2150-CM2450 and CM2350 and CM2450 XCAL modification, plus a Calterm file service page.
Denso SH7058, 896xx, ME306431, 1N83M, 275800
Denso units turn up on Sinotruk A7 / HW76 with the D10 and D12 engines, on XCMG cranes with Shangchai SC9DF engines, and on machines with Hino- or Isuzu-derived engines.
- In our database: Denso SH7058 - 263 versions, 33 makes; Denso 1N83M - 52 versions.
- Prices on Sinotruk and XCMG: DPF 140 EUR, EGR 90 EUR, AdBlue 240 EUR, Stage 1 / ECO 140 EUR, throttle 95 EUR, swirl 95 EUR, checksum 50 EUR. Generic Denso SH7058 entries are cheaper (DPF 85 EUR, EGR 75 EUR, AdBlue 200 EUR).

By vehicle type
Buses and coaches
Chinese city buses and coaches are almost always Cummins-powered (ISBe6.7, ISLe8.9, L9, ISG11/12) with a CM2150E, CM2350A, CM850 or CM2880, or Yuchai with a Delphi ETC3. Operators come to us for three reasons: the SCR system blocks the bus in service, the DPF regenerates constantly in city traffic, and fuel is the biggest line in the budget. The fleet jobs are therefore usually AdBlue off or AdBlue reduction + DPF off + an ECO file, with a Vmax change if the route demands it.
Covered brands: Yutong, King Long, Higer, Golden Dragon, Zhongtong, Bonluck, Wuzhoulong, plus the Cummins-engined bus chassis listed under Dongfeng and Foton.
Construction and mining machines
Here the ECU follows the engine supplier almost perfectly: Cummins QSB/QSL/QSX -> CM2350 / CM2350A, Isuzu -> Transtron, Shangchai / Weichai -> Denso or Bosch MD1, Deutz -> Bosch MD1CS069 / MD1CC878, CAT -> ADEM A6E. Machines are also where the DPF position costs more (180-265 EUR on CV52 / CV54 / VD1CC001) because the DOC and regeneration strategy is more entangled with the hydraulics and the fan control.
Covered brands: Sany, XCMG, LiuGong, Sunward, SEM, Zoomlion, Shantui, SDLG, Sinoboom, Hangcha, Everun, Goodsense. Where a Cummins unit is identical across machines from several brands, the same platform line ("Tier 3 excavators", "Tier 4i loaders/excavators", "Truck & crawler cranes") is listed under each of those brands, so you always order under your own badge.
Agricultural machinery and gensets
Lovol (Weichai Lovol) tractors with Bosch EDC17C87, YTO tractors and generators with EDC17CV43 / CV54, plus Yunnei, Xinchai and Chery Tractors on MD1CE108 and EDC17C81. The usual request is a full emissions delete plus an economy file; for machines working far from any AdBlue supply this is often the only way to keep them running. See also our AdBlue consumption reduction article, which applies to this hardware as well.
Cars, pickups and vans
Great Wall / Haval, Chery (with Omoda, Jaecoo and Exeed), MG, Geely (with Lynk & Co), BAIC, Changan, GAC, BYD, Roewe, Wuling, Maxus / LDV, JMC and Jinbei. Diesel pickups and vans get the usual DPF / EGR / AdBlue work (Bosch EDC17C53 / C55 / C63 / C81, MD1CS089, Delphi DCM6.2 / DCM7.1); petrol cars get Stage 1, Stage 1+ / Stage 2, OPF / GPF off, full decat and Vmax. For MG, Geely, JAC and BYD you can also see the expected power figures per engine in our tuning catalogue (for example MG and Geely).
What we do for workshops
We are a file service for professional workshops and tuners: you read the ECU, we modify the file, you write it. We do not work with end customers and we do not sell hardware.
| Solution | What is actually done | Typical price on Chinese vehicles |
|---|---|---|
| DPF / DOC off | Regeneration strategy and soot model switched off, the related monitors and codes disabled, pressure and temperature sensor handling adapted. The filter can then be gutted or replaced with a straight pipe. | 95-180 EUR (trucks), 180-265 EUR (machines), 50-105 EUR (cars) |
| EGR off | Valve closed in software with the monitoring disabled, so there is no fault code and no limp mode. Keep the valve plugged in; if its electrical part is dead, block it with a gasket as well. | 75-120 EUR |
| AdBlue / SCR off | Dosing, NOx monitoring, the inducement countdown and the related codes switched off. On vehicles with a separate AdBlue module (ACM / DCU17 / MCM-ACM, TRW ACM) both units are normally needed - see the note below. | 170-320 EUR |
| AdBlue reduction | Where the system must stay legally active but consumption is the problem: dosing reduced, system still working. Same price as AdBlue off - just say so in the order. | same as AdBlue off |
| Stage 1 / ECO (fuel economy) | Same position in the price list, two different goals. Stage 1 raises power and torque; an ECO file keeps the stock power band but flattens consumption - typically what fleets and bus operators ask for. State which one you want in the order comment. | 120-160 EUR (trucks, buses, machines), 60-120 EUR (cars) |
| Stage 1+ / Stage 2 | Where the hardware allows it (mostly cars, pickups, some Cummins). | 140-240 EUR |
| Extras | Vmax / speed limiter, RPM limit, throttle valve (TVA), swirl flaps, NOx off, MAF off, glow plug monitoring, exhaust flap, selective DTC off (you give us the codes), smoke-test pass, checksum correction, back to original. | 15-105 EUR each |
Two control units, one job. Where the AdBlue system has its own module - Denso 1N83M + ACM DCU17, Delphi DCM7.24 + ACM DCU17, TRW EMS2.3 + ACM, Continental MCM + ACM, XCMG ACM2 - attach both reads to the order. And before writing an AdBlue-off file, make sure the dashboard is free of AdBlue warnings and countdowns: a stored inducement state is the single most common reason a finished file still shows warnings.
Prices above are the current indicative ranges from our price list, per ECU family and brand. The exact figure for your vehicle is shown in the file service and on the version page in the solutions database.
How to read the ECU and order the file
Step 1 - identify the unit, not the truck
- Read the label on the ECU. Bosch units carry a 0 281 xxx xxx / 0 445 xxx number plus the type (EDC17CV44, MD1CE100). Continental, Denso, Delphi and Cummins units carry their own part number. Weichai engines may show WISE10 or WISE15 instead of the Bosch or Continental name - that is the same hardware.
- Or let the tool identify it. Autotuner, KESS3, PCMtuner and CMD all report the ECU type and the software number once connected.
- Then search the software number in our solutions database. If the version is listed, you will see the vehicles it belongs to and the exact price for that file.
Step 2 - read it properly
- OBD works on many Euro 4 / Euro 5 EDC17CV and Cummins units. Bench or boot is needed for most MD1, SID605, Denso and newer Cummins units.
- Use a stable power supply - a dropping battery during a write is how ECUs get bricked.
- Always keep the original read. Store it with the VIN, the engine number and the software ID. It is your way back and it is what we need if something has already been modified by someone else.
- Cummins units are often handled as .xcal with Calterm-type tooling; send the file exactly as the tool produced it.
- If a previous "solution" is already in the file, tell us - a half-finished delete from another provider is the second most common reason a job takes longer.
Step 3 - order at fs.auto-remap.com
- Log in or create a free workshop account. No subscription, you pay per file.
- Start a new order and pick the brand. Mind the exact spelling we use: Howo and Sinotruk are separate entries, Shacman is listed as Shacman/Shaanxi, Dongfeng as DongFeng, King Long as King Long, Great Wall as Great Wall. If you cannot find a model, choose the brand and the ECU entry and describe the vehicle in the comment.
- Select the model, engine and ECU type - this is what sets the price.
- Upload the read, tick the options you need, and write what matters in the comment: Stage 1 or ECO, AdBlue off or AdBlue reduction, which DTCs to disable, whether the DPF is already gutted.
- Receive the modified file, ready to flash. Support stays open until the vehicle runs clean.
Version not in the list? Send the read anyway. Chinese software numbers change constantly and a large part of our Chinese database was built exactly this way - from reads sent in by workshops. New versions are usually added the same day.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know which ECU my Chinese truck has?
From the ECU label or from the tool that reads it - never from the model year alone. The same model can be built with a Bosch EDC17CV44, a Bosch MD1CE100 (WISE10) or a Continental SID605 (WISE15) depending on which engine was fitted. Photograph the label and search the software number in our solutions database.
What is WISE10 and WISE15?
Weichai's own names for the control units it supplies with its engines: WISE10 is the Bosch MD1CE100 platform, WISE15 is the Continental SID605. WISE13 turns up inside the software IDs of the related MD1CE101, and WISEC13 on the MD1CE100 itself - the same MD1 family. We list them as "Bosch MD1CE100/WISE10" and "Siemens/Continental SID605/WISE15" in the price list.
Are Chinese Cummins engines the same as American ones?
The ISF, ISB/ISBe, ISL/ISLe, ISG, ISZ, X12/X13 and QSB/QSL/QSX engines built by Cummins' Chinese joint ventures use the same CM control units as their North American relatives - CM2220, CM2150, CM2250, CM2350, CM2670, CM2880. The tooling, the checksums and the CVN handling are the same, which is why our Cummins experience transfers directly.
Can you turn AdBlue off if the truck has a separate AdBlue module?
Yes. On Denso 1N83M, Delphi DCM7.24, TRW EMS2.3 and Continental MCM platforms the AdBlue module (ACM / DCU17) is a second control unit - attach both reads to the order. Clear every AdBlue warning and countdown on the dashboard before you write the file.
Do you do AdBlue reduction instead of a full delete?
Yes, at the same price as AdBlue off. It keeps the SCR system working but lowers consumption - the usual choice where the system has to stay active. Mention it in the order.
What is the difference between Stage 1 and an ECO file?
They are the same price position with different targets. Stage 1 adds power and torque. An ECO file keeps the factory power but improves fuel consumption at cruising load - the request we get most from bus and truck fleets. Say which one you want; we can also combine an emissions delete with an economy map.
Can you work on a file that another provider already modified?
Usually yes, but say so up front. A partially deleted file with leftover monitors is harder than a stock one. If you still have the original read, send it as well.
Which tools do I need?
Autotuner, Alientech KESS3 / K-TAG, PCMtuner, CMD or Dimsport cover nearly everything in this guide. Many Euro 5 units read over OBD; MD1, SID605, Denso and the newer Cummins units normally need bench or boot access. For Cummins, Calterm-type tooling producing .xcal files is also fine.
My Chinese brand is not in your list at all. Is it hopeless?
No. We hold over 1 000 software versions on Chinese vehicles across more than 70 brands, and the engine and the ECU matter more than the badge. If the engine is a Weichai, Yuchai or Cummins and the ECU is one of the families above, we almost certainly have a solution - send the read and we will confirm.
