Glow monitoring off: glow plug and glow control unit diagnostics

Diesel engines use glow plugs for cold starts and, on modern engines, for after-glow to keep emissions down. The ECU or a separate glow control unit monitors each plug. Non-genuine plugs, a failing control unit or plugs removed on engines used in warm climates or with pre-heaters all trigger fault codes.
