Pop & Bang: crackle and burble map for petrol engines

Pop & Bang (also called crackle map or burble tune) gives the overrun "pops and bangs" known from motorsport. When the driver lifts off the throttle, ignition timing and fuel are adjusted so a small amount of fuel burns in the exhaust.

Options

Intensity — from mild burble to aggressive crackle.
RPM window — for example only between 2,500 and 6,500 rpm.
Activation — always on, in Sport mode only, or with cruise control button activation where supported.
Combined with exhaust flap control so the flap opens when the map is active (see exhaust flap).

Petrol cars with Bosch MED17/MEVD17/MG1, Continental Simos and other ECUs — VAG, BMW, Mercedes-AMG, Ford, Hyundai/Kia and more.

Pop & Bang increases thermal load on the catalyst and exhaust; we recommend it for vehicles with a sports or decat exhaust.

Register in the AUTO-REMAP file service, upload the original read of the ECU, tick Pop & Bang together with any other options you need, and download the modified file — usually within minutes, complex ECUs within working hours. Checksums are corrected automatically.
