Japanese excavators and loaders rarely use an engine of their own brand. Kobelco uses Hino, Isuzu and Yanmar engines; Hitachi uses Isuzu and Cummins; Takeuchi uses Kubota, Yanmar and Isuzu; Komatsu builds its engines with Cummins. So the first question for any of these machines is not "which excavator" but "which engine" - the answer gives you the ECU family. This guide maps it brand by brand.

Yanmar
Yanmar's own Tier 4 final engines (3TNV / 4TNV, 1.6-3.3 L) are mostly on Bosch EDC17CV54 - 21 of our 33 Yanmar versions: SV and ViO excavators, Mustang loaders, forklifts. Older and some Asian-market models (YT / YH tractors, SV) use Denso SH7058; the bigger SV120 / TW110 use EDC17CV52. Prices: Denso 120 / 95 / 220 / 160 EUR, EDC17CV54 180 / 85 / 150 / 120 EUR. Yanmar track dumpers often have a separate AdBlue DCU - send both reads.
Sumitomo, Kato, Tadano
- Sumitomo SH210 / SH350 - Cummins QSB6.7 / QSL9 on CM2350 (140 / 95 / 290 / 140 EUR); H330 with Isuzu 6HK1 on Transtron (85 / 70 / 190 / 95 EUR). Sumitomo designs are also sold as Link-Belt and some CASE models.
- Kato - HD513 / HD514 (Isuzu 4JJ1, Transtron), HD820 / HD870 (Isuzu 4HK1, Transtron), SR250 / CR130 (Denso SH7058), IC120 (Cummins CM2350).
- Tadano cranes - Cummins CM2350.
What we do on these machines
- DPF, EGR and AdBlue off - the soot counter and service regeneration request are disabled together with the filter. On Stage V machines with a separate AdBlue DCU, send both reads.
- Stage 1 / ECO - more hydraulic torque or lower consumption per hour.
- Selective DTC off - from 50 EUR; you give the codes, we disable exactly those.
- Reading: Alientech KESS3 and K-TAG, New Genius, Magic FLEX, CMD, FGTech, PCMflash and similar tools, on the bench or in boot mode depending on the unit.
- In the order form pick the machine brand (Kobelco, Hitachi, Takeuchi, Komatsu, Yanmar, Sumitomo, Tadano) and the ECU type.
FAQ
How do I know which engine my excavator has?
The engine plate on the block, the machine's spec sheet, or the ECU label - Transtron means Isuzu, a Denso with a Hino software number means Hino, Bosch EDC17CV54 on a small Kobelco or Takeuchi usually means Yanmar.
Is a Hitachi ZX210 file the same as a CASE CX210?
Both use an Isuzu 4HK1 and a Transtron ECU, but the calibrations differ. Send the read from the machine itself.
My Komatsu has a Cummins ECU. Is that normal?
Yes. Komatsu engines are built with Cummins and use Cummins CM2350, CM2250 or CM850 control units - or Bosch EDC17 on dozers and forestry machines.
