FAW builds its own engines - and buys other people's. The Xichai CA6DL and CA6DM sixes (Deutz-derived) sit next to Weichai WP12 and WP14, Yuchai YC6K and Hanma H11 / H17 units, and the control unit follows the engine rather than the truck. On the J6 range that usually means a Bosch EDC17CV44; on the J6P, J7 and JH6 with the big 12.8 L Weichai it means a Continental SID605, which Weichai sells under its own name WISE15. This is also the brand where our combined "all models / all engines" entry gets used most, because FAW software numbers change constantly.

One file, several badges. Several of our FAW EDC17CV44 versions also list Hongyan, Chenglong, Hualing, CAMC and Dongfeng chassis on the same page - because the engine and the calibration are shared. If the software number matches, the file matches, whatever the badge on the cab says.

Reading and ordering
- Identify by engine. Xichai CA6DL / CA6DP and Weichai WP12 usually mean EDC17CV44; the 12.6-12.8 L on J6P / J7 / JHP means Continental SID605 (WISE15); WP14 means Bosch MD1CE100B / WISE10; the older H17 and Q11 mean EDC7UC31.
- Read it. EDC17CV44 and EDC7UC31 read over OBD on many trucks; SID605 and MD1 want bench or boot. If your tool does not list SID605, ask us first.
- Order at fs.auto-remap.com under FAW, pick the model, engine and ECU type, upload the read and tick the options.
- Not in the list? Pick the combined EDC17CV44/CV41/CV54 - all models / all engines line for FAW and describe the truck in the comment, or just send the read.
FAQ
What is WISE15 on my FAW J6P?
Weichai's name for the Continental SID605 fitted to its big 12.6-12.8 L engines. Our price list shows it as "Siemens/Continental SID605/WISE15". DPF 190 EUR, EGR 120 EUR, AdBlue off 240 EUR, Stage 1 or ECO 140 EUR.
Are the Xichai CA6DL engines related to Deutz?
The CA6DL / CA6DM family comes from Deutz technology licensed to FAW Xichai. The ECU is normally a Bosch EDC17CV44, and the workflow is the same as on other Chinese heavy trucks.
My J6 is not in the version list. Can you still do it?
Yes. FAW is the brand where the combined "all models / all engines" EDC17CV44/CV41/CV54 entry is used most. Send the read and we will confirm the line and the price.
Can you do an economy file for a long-haul J7?
Yes - the Stage 1 position covers ECO files at the same price. Say "ECO" in the comment; we keep the factory power band and work on consumption at cruising load.
