NOx off: software solution for failed or missing NOx sensors
Euro 5 and Euro 6 diesels use one or two NOx sensors: upstream (before the SCR catalyst) and downstream (after it). The ECU uses them to dose AdBlue/DEF and to check catalyst efficiency. A NOx sensor is expensive, has a short service life in heavy use, and when it fails the engine often goes into reduced power or a countdown to a speed limit.
Typical problems
- Sensor failure — heater circuit, CAN communication or plausibility faults (for example P2200–P2213, P229F, SPN 3216/3226).
- Long lead times and high price of genuine sensors, especially on trucks and machines.
- Inducement — torque reduction or speed limit after a sensor fault is stored.
What we do in the file
- Upstream and/or downstream NOx sensor monitoring disabled.
- Sensor values replaced so dependent functions (SCR efficiency, dosing models) keep working without errors.
- NOx-related DTCs and inducement triggers removed.
- Usually combined with SCR/AdBlue off; can also be done alone when the SCR system stays active.
Supported vehicles
Cars, vans, trucks, buses, agricultural and construction equipment with Bosch EDC17/MD1/MG1, Continental/Siemens, Delphi, Denso, Cummins and other ECUs.
How to order
Register in the AUTO-REMAP file service, upload the original read of the ECU, tick NOx off together with any other options you need, and download the modified file — usually within minutes, complex ECUs within working hours. Checksums are corrected automatically.
