Why E85 is booming in France and Belgium

E85 (Superéthanol) is a fuel with up to 85% bioethanol. In France it is sold at more than 3,700 filling stations and costs less than half the price of petrol.

Average prices in France, October 2026:

• SP95-E10 petrol: ≈ €2.17 per litre
• E85: ≈ €0.91 per litre

E85 needs about 25% more volume, yet the cost per 100 km still drops by about 45–50%. For a car doing 15,000 km a year that is typically €1,000–1,200 saved per year.

Today's price in every French département: E85 price map (updated several times a day). Belgian drivers usually run on petrol at home and fill up with E85 just across the border.

How the Flex Fuel file works

The conversion is done in the original engine ECU only: no hardware is added or removed. Our engineers recalibrate:

• injection quantity for the ethanol content actually in the tank (E10 up to E85);
• ignition advance, to use the higher octane of ethanol (≈ 104 RON);
• cold start and warm-up enrichment, lambda and fuel trims (STFT/LTFT).

The customer keeps the freedom to fill up with SP95, SP98 or E85 in any mix. Optional: E85 + Stage 1 for extra power and torque on top of the saving.
