Bosch ECM4 — Volvo, Renault and Mack from 2022
Bosch ECM4 is the fourth-generation Volvo Group engine controller that replaced TRW EMS2.3 and EMS2.4 on the 11, 13 and 16-litre platform from model year 2022. It runs on an Infineon AURIX TC299.
It is fitted to the Volvo FH, FH Aero, FM, FMX and FH16 and the VNL, VNR, VNX, VHD and VAH, the Renault T, T High, C and K, the Mack Anthem, Pinnacle, Granite and TerraPro, and the TAD11, TAD13 and TWD16 industrial engines.
ECM4 is read and written on the bench at the ECU connector — the unit is not opened and does not have to be removed. A read takes about 3 minutes 15 seconds and a write about 1 minute 30 seconds, with automatic checksum correction and a backup before writing.
AdBlue dosing sits in a separate ACM module, so any SCR work needs both files — the engine ECU and the ACM. We supply EGR, DPF/DOC and SCR/AdBlue off, AdBlue reduction of 50–70% and ECO Stage 1 with up to 4–5 litres per 100 km saved. It is the same two-ECU architecture we have worked on since 2014 with TRW EMS.

Questions about Bosch ECM4
Does ECM4 need both files?
Yes. AdBlue dosing is in the separate ACM, so any SCR work needs the reads of both the engine ECU and the ACM.
Does the ECU have to be removed or opened?
No. ECM4 is read and written on the bench at its connector; boot mode and OBD flashing are not used.
