Every Sea-Doo with a Rotax 4-TEC or ACE engine is controlled by one of three ECUs, and which one you have decides how the file is read and what can be done with it. This short guide shows which controller is fitted to which model, what we supply for Sea-Doo and how to order.
Key facts
- ECUs: Bosch ME17.8.5 (47 software versions in our database), Continental MSE3.7 (9), Bosch MG1CA920 (1).
- Models: RXP-X, RXT-X, GTX, GTI, GTR, Spark, Wake and more.
- Solutions: Stage 1, RPM limit increase, Vmax (top speed limiter), DTC off; Stage 2 on selected models.
- Stage 1 example: RXP-X 1.6 supercharged 300 → 330 hp.
Which ECU is in your Sea-Doo
| ECU | Fitted to | Software versions |
|---|---|---|
| Bosch ME17.8.5 | RXT-X, RXP-X, GTI, Spark, Wake and other Rotax ACE models | 47 |
| Continental MSE3.7 | Earlier 4-TEC models: GTI, RXT-X, GTX, RXP-X | 9 |
| Bosch MG1CA920 | Latest RXP-X | 1 |
By model, our Sea-Doo solutions page lists 17 software versions for the RXT-X, 14 for the GTI, 13 for the RXP-X and 8 for the Spark, each with its software ID, so you can check your file before you start. The same Bosch ME17.8.5 family also runs Can-Am Maverick X3 and Ski-Doo engines.
What we supply for Sea-Doo
- Stage 1: fuel, ignition and, on supercharged models, load limits optimised for the stock engine.
- Vmax: the factory top speed limiter removed or raised. On supercharged models, this often makes the biggest difference on the water.
- RPM limit: raised within the safe range, typically after an impeller change.
- DTC off: single fault codes switched off cleanly.
- Stage 2: for intake, exhaust or supercharger upgrades, on selected models.
Stage 1 figures
